Dunning
Like the other 5 towers similar to Dunning in
Scotland, Dunblane cathedral, Markinch, Muthill and St Rule,
Dunning tower is the sole survivor of the old church. The tower
is of 5 storeys, with only the upper 2 and roof being divided by a
projecting string course. It is constructed of local stone set in
well laid courses which approaches ashlar quality in places.
Internally there is a fine tower arch which appears to have had a
new, highly pointed arch inserted in place of a theoretical earlier
Romanesque one.
